How to start saving with Cashrewards

Here is a step-by-step outline of how to start saving with Cashrewards Australia.

Outlining how it works, ways to join and how I use it to save money.

Get paid to shop: Cashrewards offers Australia’s largest selection of online stores. It is a shopping portal with hundreds of partner retailers. Cashrewards offers a variable amount of cash, payable back to you – which is usually a percentage of the amount you purchase online with one of their partners. On average they give 7% cash back on every purchase.

I have been a happy member for years now. It’s one of my favourite travel hacking baby steps, because it so easy to use.

How Cashrewards makes money:

Cash Rewards is paid a commission for directing you to a retailer’s site. The commission is usually based on how much you spend. You still receive your item/booking directly from the retailer as usual, but you also get some money from Cashrewards for clicking through them.

How to join Cashrewards

1 click..

A 15-second step…

That can earn you 100s of dollars a year.

Cashrewards costs nothing to join. It is also very easy to sign up.  All you need to join is:

  • Your full name
  • Email address
  • Australian postcode

You can use Facebook to Join, but I used just my email address.

They have a brilliant referral programme. So if you click on my referral link below you will earn $10 and so will I

Withdrawing Cashback:

Like all cashback sites, Cashrewards has a payment threshold, meaning you need to earn over a certain amount of money before you can withdraw it. Their payment threshold is $10.01, you can get $10 through my referral link, meaning your first cashback will be paid to you straight away.

How I use Cashrewards:

To save on my accommodation bookings I use Booking.com and Cashrewards. Follow the steps below to see how I do it:

  1. Sign in to Booking.com. Find the deal you are looking for and make note of it, then close the page.
  2. Sign into your Cashrewards account.
  3. Find the cashback offer for Booking.com. Make sure you read the small description of what you get cashback for and how long it will take to confirm. Offers and deals on Cashrewards can change often, with new retailers coming on board. Make sure you read the offer, not just the cashback amount. Cashback usually has terms and conditions that specify the deal that Cashrewards and the retailer have. Some of these conditions are very specific, such as having to buy a watch or be a new customer.
  4. Click through the link on Cashrewards to start shopping at Booking.com. You must access the retailers website through Cashrewards. Doing so means your journey will get tracked so that a completed sale gets recorded for the retailer to confirm.
  5. Find the deal you wanted. Book your days and pay as usual.
  6. Within a few hours, you will see that the transaction has been tracked by Cashrewards. You will also get a confirmation email that tells you how much cashback you will be expecting back and by when.
  7. I usually add a small reminder to my calendar of when it estimates my cashback will go from ‘tracked’ to ‘confirmed’. Once it is confirmed it is yours to keep, but you usually can only withdraw once you have reached the $10.01 threshold

Tip: With accommodation and flight bookings, the money won’t be released to you until after your stay/travel.

Next, withdraw and enjoy!

Or look at ways to use your cashback to earn more as a Cashrewards master.

It isn’t ideal having to wait for your money to confirm but it is a great bonus once it does. I like to think of it as a little savings pot that seems to get released to me when I need it the most. Think of these savings as your holiday budget you can’t dip into all the time!

Earn 100s of dollars a year by becoming a Cashrewards Master

There are ways to become a Cashrewards master but make sure you don’t think of this as an income source. The tracking of cashback is not always guaranteed. Think of it as an added bonus. A handy way of earning extra money.
